Backtracking...... to the Hindu Temple!!

Hinduism. I had no experience with this religion before now. I was really anxious for this temple visit because everything I had learned about Hinduism, honestly, scared me a little bit.  This is an ancient religion, and satan has had his grasp on Hindu people for thousands of years. 

The Hindu temple we went to visit is one of the biggest temples in the entire eastern half of the US. It was pretty big. We drove about 2 hours from where we were staying in Philly to get to it too. It was worth it though to see this religion up close and personal.

In Hinduism there are more gods or deities than there are people in the United States. That's over 330 million different deities. Wowza. I can't even wrap my head around that. Most Hindu families or individuals choose to follow a few of their favorite gods, but they know that all are important. 

There are three main gods in the Hindu religion, though.  The big three are Brahma (the creator), Vishnu (the preserver), and Shiva (the destroyer). However, people pray/worship whichever god they need help from at that time (there are gods for money, health, etc.). 

The temple we visited had all the main gods and then some more obscure deities that they founders of the temple followed. The temple was filled with Hindu people worshipping and praying to false idols. Then, we witnessed the "bathing of the gods" ceremony. The temple elders pretty much just poured water, honey, milk, and other various goodies over the statue of Brahma. 

It was really heart wrenching to see all of these people giving devotion to false idols, praying to sculptures of wood and metal. Hinduism is a religion of ritual and action. They believe the only way to break the cycle of reincarnation is to do good (karma), clear your mind through yoga and meditation, and worship the idols. 

There is no saving grace, there is no hope. These people are mired in an ancient religion that satan started thousands of years ago. Pray that they would see the one true God in their lives and be radically changed by Him!
